Interventions

Our team is trained in a variety of therapeutic modalities, tailoring their approach to each client’s age, needs, and goals.

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a decades old evidence based intervention that helps reduce PTSD symptoms and increase resiliency. EMDR is not limited to trauma, however, and can be used to treat anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and attachment issues, as well as help navigate life stressors such as confidence issues, low self esteem, and fears and phobias. EMDR is also used to boost positive resources, increasing feelings of self worth, confidence, and calm, and assist in increased school and work functioning. Reflections clinicians use a variety of bilateral stimulation techniques.

  • SMART (Sensory Motor Arousal Regulation Treatment) is an intervention out of the Trauma Center at JRI. This therapy model allows children and adolescents to utilize Reflection’s giant bean bags, trampoline, exercise balls, and balance beam, and weighted blankets to engage both their brains and bodies to help facilitate healing and connection through movement and play. SMART is typically used as a part of other interventions.
